Your renovation is almost done. The carpentry is in, the painters have packed up, and your interior designer (ID) or contractor is ready to hand over. Before you make the final payment and move in, it’s worth checking that the work matches what you paid for.
Our Post Renovation Inspection includes two visits. The first finds defects in the renovation work. The second checks that your ID or contractor has fixed them properly.

Why inspect after renovation?
Renovation brings in a lot of new trades at once: carpentry, tiling, electrical, plumbing, painting and more. Small problems are common, and they’re much easier to raise before the final payment than after you’ve moved in. A structured inspection helps you:
- Hand your ID one clear list instead of raising items piecemeal over weeks.
- Separate renovation defects from original construction defects. This matters if you’re still within a new home’s Defects Liability Period (DLP).
- Check the hidden basics, such as drainage, water pressure and electrical points, not just what you can see.
- Confirm the fixes. The second visit checks each item on the original list.
What we check after a renovation
The scope is the same as in all our inspections, applied to the renovation work.
Architectural
- Carpentry: cabinet and wardrobe alignment, door and drawer operation, hinges, edging and finishes.
- Tiling: hollow tiles, cracked or chipped tiles, uneven joints and incomplete grouting.
- Walls and ceilings: paint finish, cracks, patchy areas and false ceiling joints.
- Fixtures and fittings: lights, fans, shelving, mirrors and accessories. Are they secure, level and undamaged?
- Seepage: damp marks or staining, particularly near wet areas.
Mechanical
- Piping: visible connections to sinks, taps, water heaters and appliances.
- Water pressure and drainage: every tap, shower and floor trap.
- Water ponding: bathroom and kitchen floors should fall towards the drains, especially after re-tiling.
Electrical
- Electrical points: new and relocated switches and sockets.
- Appliances: testing of installed items that can be run on the day.

Our process
- Book on WhatsApp once your ID gives you a handover date.
- First inspection: we go through the whole home, record defects in the renovation work, and send you a report with photos.
- Pass the list to your ID: your contractor fixes the items.
- Second inspection: we come back and check every item on the list.
- Hand over the final payment with confidence. Offsite consultation stays available if something comes up later.
Renovating a new home? Get the order right
If your flat or condo is new, do your DLP defect check before renovation starts. HDB asks BTO owners to report defects within one month of key collection and before renovation, because afterwards it’s hard to tell who caused what. A sensible order is:
- Collect keys, then do the DLP defect inspection (BTO or condo/EC).
- Submit the defect list, then complete the joint inspection and rectification.
- Renovate.
- Do the post-renovation inspection before the final payment.
The Gold package covers steps 1, 2 and 4 in one booking.
Why Easy Inspection
- More than 2,000 home inspections completed
- 356 Google reviews, rated 5 stars
- Full-time inspectors only
- Unlimited rescheduling, useful when renovation timelines slip
- Lifetime offsite consultation after the job
Post-renovation inspection FAQ
When should I book a post-renovation inspection?
When your ID or contractor says the work is complete, and before you make the final payment. Leave enough time for repairs and the second visit before your move-in date.
What’s included in the two inspections?
The first inspection covers the whole home and produces a defect report with photos. The second checks that each item on that report has been fixed.
Can you talk to my ID directly?
Our report is written so you can pass it straight to your ID or contractor.
I’m still in my DLP. Will a renovation affect my claims?
It can. Defects reported after renovation starts may be hard to attribute to the original construction. That’s why we recommend a DLP inspection before renovation and a post-renovation inspection afterwards. Read our DLP guide.
Do you inspect renovations in resale flats and landed homes?
Yes. The Post Renovation Inspection works for any renovated home. For landed homes, we quote based on size and scope. Contact us for a quote
